there are not too many lovers in the place

Yeah, so, not a big deal or anything, just two of my favorite people shot together.

your brother and his friends are living in the dime all the time

I’ve written before for Kill City about how amazing Josie Ramondetta, her zine BEERSPIT and her photos are and this shot of Jasin is one of my favorites. It bums me out that 90% of biker dudes look like shit these days and every photo of Jasin (and Max ) makes me belive there’s still hope in the moto world for style. (Seriously, I’ve seen more dudes on bikes wearing crocs than I’d like to admit and the extremely well known gang that lives down the street from us and always invite us to their parties just look like new metal dudes with tribal tattoos and baggy jeans.)

break out and send a message through

Seriously, this new shirt from Off Bowery is going to sell out in 2 seconds flat. My friend Kathy (that’s her boyfriend in the shirt) mentioned a while ago that there was an Aurel shirt in the works and it looks just as perfect as I could have imagined. I just hope it’ll come in black!

but he sure done kept that whiskey churn alive

Some of you may know Magnus Berger as Julia Restoin Roitfeld’s old man. I know that he is doing seriously incredible things with his new print and online mag, The Last Magazine . Todd fuckin’ Selby is totally killing it by stopping on by his apartment and checking out his guitars, major mag/book collection and sneak peeks of the mag. It looks incredible and I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy! I don’t read that many magazines anymore besides Purple, Jalouse, Paris Vogue and Foam and I really wish there were more that appealed to me. I think TLM will be a new favorite for sure.

it hasn’t moved and again hasn’t moved

I seriously fucking love that Fafi has a blog now. Being able to see her work in real time and not just randomly on the street is so goddamn rad. I can’t begin to explain how much I completely love these girls she painted while in Mexico during the Day of the Dead festival. So killer!! Read the whole story of how it went down over on her Colette blog !

goddamn leeches, golden rules, stay still, move around a little bit

New. Epic. Can never say enough good things.
My friend Max gave me a copy of his brand new book, 23, (you’ll hear more about that later this week) and an extra copy to give to Alison. I’m stoked because I dig his work so much and being able to spread it around is awesome, especially because who wants to give up their own copy? I’m gonna excerpt it for you guys when I talk more about it because I think if you dig my blog, you’ll really like his stories. It’s out soon on our friend Wes’s label The Heartworm . I’ve written about Max’s last book, Indestructible Wolves of the Apocalypse Junkyard, here before .

every inch exists in miles, still it’s cool relaxed and calm

Arabelle asked me to post up my favorite shoes followed by my dislikes. Dislikes are easy but as for my favorites? Well you shouldn’t be surprised to find my list is dominated by boots.

Demeulemeester / Golden Goose / Demeulemeester

McCartney / Westwood / APC

Vans

(I at least own the whole bottom row and the pirate boots)

There’s nothing better to me than a pair of shoes I can really run around in, being on my feet nonstop all day long and ready for anything, which is obviously why I don’t have very many pairs of heels in my closet. The thing about them for me is how many girls do you know that carry around a pair of flats in their bag for when the shoes (inevitably) are too much to bare? I see too many women changing shoes on street corners to warrant spending any kind of cash for a pair. I would go the heels route with the YSL Tribute’s but I think for now I’ll leave them to another Jen to keep rocking them perfectly.

Easily the most perfect street style shot ever.

Anyway, as for my dislikes..

I thought Doc’s were stupid + ugly when I was a teenager and my thoughts on them haven’t changed years later. I hate the sole of them and the tag that hangs off the top and the general frumpy/boring look they have. They are everywhere and I just don’t get it. Even my husband can’t stand the look of them. I think the hype surrounding them is just as bad as wayfarers and if I can assume from the mass shops like H&M, Topshop & F21 stocking up with cheap imitation pairs that maybe they will all go away soon.

I’ve also never been a fan of Nike’s. It stems from being a young punk and disliking all the shit going down behind the scenes of their company as well as everything that went on with Consolidated Skateboards and also just plain thinking their shoes were hideous. While I can’t stand the brand, I have admittedly seen a few pairs here and there that weren’t bad looking (if it wasn’t for that goddamn swoosh).. for example, Jeremy’s SPB’s were great (giving them out free to friends at the PDX SPB convention was rad), this new MOB pair I wrote about are pretty (but you’d have to keep them really clean + who has time to worry about that?) and my friend Manute’s lady Rox makes them look awfully nice as well but long story short, there’s just no way I could ever seriously be caught dead wearing a pair.

and don’t walk the streets of london late at night

The London Rock and Roll Show is one of our most watched dvds. The first time I saw it I was immeditately glued to the screen by this one set from Sutch. He kills it, you will dig it.

a lot of things happen out on the open sea

I think it is beyond safe to say we would all kill for these rooms inhabited by the latest Selby subjects, Nicolas Malleville and Francesca Bonato (hoteliers et perfumers) in Mexico. As always, view my favorites here and see the rest over there .

No big deal.

This just puts my measly little clothing rack full of my favorite pieces to shame. Knowing fully well that my husband could build something identical to this makes my heart warm but we’d need this kind of space first. AMAZING.

Who wouldn’t want to wake up here?

And walk in there every morning?

When we used to make weekly roadtrips we found a similar chair to this one at a craze roadside stop. Named ‘the kissing seat,’ the one we found was metal and from what I remember was a bit heart shaped. I was infatuated with the way you would sit in it with your love but unfortunately it was a very old piece and they wanted far too much for it so it never came home with us. I really like that Todd shot them in it.

between the lights downtown and in the back of a cab

So stoked to see someone post this up on TFS. I don’t have a scanner so I couldn’t before when I got the mag and I’m just glad someone else did so I could share it with you guys (click to make the text larger).

I love that Julia named Kiki de Montparnasse as one of her favorite shops (how couldn’t it be?) but my favorite bit from the interview was, of course..

Which I can’t say enough how wholeheartedly I agree and have said this countless times before. Nice to see she thinks this way too.

i’m a romantic adventure and i’m a reptile too

There’s nothing I would have wished for more when I was a teenager than Lemmy crashing through my wall on a motorcycle. (OK I’ll admit I would still be reallllly into it now as well.)

deep in the drink fun distinctly

Katie May from Yen (who so epicly wrote very nice things about my blog before) sent me a link to check out her friends rad blog and while I was doing so I found this epic shot of Katie. I’ve only ever heard her talk about awesome shit but to see she dresses (she’s the one on the left in the purple + leather amazingness) like a total winner only stokes me out on her more. If you’re not now, you should be reading her daily musings over at Yen Mag !
