move out staggered through the night
Whenever Kenneth gets together with them it is just always the most amazing outcome ever. This is no exception and easily my favorite video so far.

before the veil is closed, gonna get out
I was sent the mp3 of this song a while back and I have not stopped listening to it since. I don’t know who those guys are but this song seriously completely kills it. We really like all of Nancy & Lee’s songs and to hear this one with Alison was obvs beyond epic. Listen to the original here .

goddamn leeches, golden rules, stay still, move around a little bit
New. Epic. Can never say enough good things.
My friend Max gave me a copy of his brand new book, 23, (you’ll hear more about that later this week) and an extra copy to give to Alison. I’m stoked because I dig his work so much and being able to spread it around is awesome, especially because who wants to give up their own copy? I’m gonna excerpt it for you guys when I talk more about it because I think if you dig my blog, you’ll really like his stories. It’s out soon on our friend Wes’s label The Heartworm . I’ve written about Max’s last book, Indestructible Wolves of the Apocalypse Junkyard, here before .

my ambition always helped to ease the pain
One of my all time favorite songs.. I remember when the record first came out and I already had it on tape.. a while since we’d both been in Florida and seemed like forever since the last Discount show.. back when Steve Aoki was just another dude running a little record company and seeing them play live didn’t include 300+ others who didn’t know the words to the songs and will never ‘get it’ anyway. I am hoping they’ll be playing a party during Fashion Week for sure.

i’m just lookin’ for a dear dear friend of mine

I don’t normally pick up Lula Magazine as it is just a little too much for me in the frilly department but I was thumbing through it the other day and was stoked to see Alison looking incredible in Chanel in an article on women in music. The interview is great if you don’t know much about her or The Kills (I’m including it anyway for those who want to read it ) but I love that they captured her in this look that at first glance didn’t even look like her! Also in the same issue where they collect all the goings on out and about photos, she can be seen running those Chanel shades everyone seems to be so interested in.

night of wonder for us to keep

Watched some friends play a sold out show. Hung out with Cappello. Wished for mojitos, which the bar only has on Sundays (note to self: start carrying around your own mint leaves). Alison got a tattoo. Some guys from this band ‘The Kooks’ played a duo gig which much of the crowd was stoked on.. they were beyond terrible and we sat on the stage stairs and laughed very hard at their songs and the audience. Friends were totally ripping and completely killed it. Apparently Gossip Girl fans have been coming out in droves from some of their songs being played on the show which has resulted in being a bit of a bummer. Luckily this show was 21+ so we didn’t think any fanatical girls were going to show up.

Shopped a bit. Picked up these incredibly cute reflective red heart shades (the Lolita ones) at H&M (I haven’t taken them off yet!) along with a heap of other things. I also managed to find the most amazing Chanel S/S 08-esque metallic silver perforated sneakers. Found new Puppia gifts for Nico. Chanel had some nice pieces on an amazing sale (including the S/S 08 silver perf heels) but nothing I’d die without (ok so the wallet at $115 was a steal but whatever). Came home to new issue of Jalouse and the Purple Anthology book which I’m so stoked on. Spent the rest of the day getting a cage and puppy supplies because Nico comes home next Friday.

See what I mean? With the laces hidden beneath my jeans, they make me feel like I’m wearing boots. I love it.

you can smell the danger
New Kills video out. Completely epic as always. They are on tour now so if you get the chance to catch them play, do not miss it!

move over for a damage case
It seems now that Alison from the Kills & band mate Jamie’s girlfriend Kate Moss have started sharing clothes! Last week the Kills performed on Conan O’Brien and I was quite stoked to see Alison donning this incredible Ann Demeulemeester vest from Spring 08! Then last night Kate showed up to the Agent Provocateur party at Milk in the same vest!

let me sleep all night in your soul kitchen
Excitingly enough, I received the new issue of Nylon that features the Kills on the cover. Now, I’ve never been excited over Nylon except maybe the first time I found it many years ago, boarding a British Airways flight and spying the eye catching cover on my way past a gift shop, stopping to pick up this mag I had never seen before. I liked it for a while but then stopped reading it altogether because they weren’t really telling me anything new aside from lots of new bands I did not want to get to know. I kept reading the Face and Jalouse and left it at that.

So why was I excited this time? Besides being very proud of my old friends for grabbing the cover (and appearing in the famed Louboutin spiky boots) and a killer interview? Because somehow it was free! Yes maybe signing up at the Urban Blog (who I, don’t forget, write for) for a free subscription actually worked because I can’t really explain it any other way and who doesn’t like free stuff? Anyway, unfortunately most of the issue was zzz.. but I read the Kills article out loud to my fiancé and even he was stoked on them at the end of it.

Oh and the best part? While they don’t usually use stylists, the Nylon team did pick numerous black garments to be worn throughout, most of the clothing is their own.

i stood up and walked out of the arms of venus de milo
I am excited for The Kills to be getting much more press than their last records with their newest album, Midnight Boom. Above is another (!) new video for the second single of the record and it is one of my favorites to date, both the art direction and the song!
