Category — I LOVE PURPLE

you may have heard some of that loose talk

I had a hard time turning these down at Kiki De Montparnasse recently. I walked in and noticed all my favorite pieces were now available in my favorite color. I tried the top on with the fingerless leather gloves I used to be so obsessed with. It looked completely amazing and my husband was ready to set me up for our wedding night but I had to say no. As much as I want every one of these, and I really really do, I have to draw the line somewhere (especially with my no spending rule strongly enforced). And besides, the tiny perforated black leather gloves I scored a few years ago that I cut the fingers up on last winter are worlds better than Kiki’s and were probably about $393 less. If they happen to do the garter tank in this color I’ll say right now it will be mine, the black is one of my favorite pieces ever.

it wasn’t always love and laughter but we both come out better after

Allow me to skip from NY to London quite quick. I am always such a huge Luella fan and her latest collection completely killed it. The first look out made me know I was going to dig it all, especially because it was in my favorite shade of purple. I am seriously never a ruffle, flower or lace person AT ALL but for Luella, I’d wear every one of these. Not to mention those seriously adorable shoes and PINK riding hat (I am still on the search for mine).

but if you look you could find there’s so many ways around it

No big deal but we scored this AMAZING couch today for a price cheaper than my Ksubi t-shirts. We’ve both been obsessed with these couches for so long and we came across this one today in total amazement and excitement. It’s super soft leather and while it looks brown in the photo, it’s more mauve/purple than anything (which I love). Seriously so incredible and will look great in whatever new apartment we end up in. BTW I saw it and said ‘oh man that’s like Alex’s couch’ then consulted my phone to find, yeah it’s like the same one.

eyewitness energy can’t be beat

I mentioned the other day how much I loved the new zipper skirt from Sophomore and am now stoked to show off my other favorite pieces from the Fall 08 line. I’ll be honest and just say I love everything in this look book. Chrissie you definitely have another hit collection on your hands.

Can’t say enough about how much I want both of these. The purple tank is perfection.

Seriously how amazing is this skirt (and the accompanying shirt)? To see she also made a dress in this style just makes me even happier.

Double tank dress is wonderfulness & striped legging shirt set are amazing.

The skirt again with the best looking henley I’ve ever seen (seriously) and this shawl neck dress is all I want to wear all winter.

To see the rest and more, including the mens line, click on over to Sophomore . Since I’ve been receiving a lot of e-mails on where to find their wears, right now you can purchase select pieces online and at many shops, including but not limited to: Bona Drag , Opening Ceremony , Satine & Acrimony . See the full list of stockists here .

but things were fine when we made the money roll

In the way that I always liked that Marni used a lot of purple in the garments, I’ve always liked Miu Miu for doing the same. The Resort collection was full of my favorite color and I have to say I like this more than the last actual RTW show (despite it being surf gear chic)! Besides all the purple, there is also some black and pink looks that I can’t wait to see but for now these are the photos available. Check back later for more of the collection. Of course that last look is quite different, I’m just thinking it zips all the way down to form a nice tight fitting dress. It also doesn’t hurt to see these on Anouck who could make anything look good.

snot full o’ cocaine, the sexual streets, why it’s all so insane

Exactly how much do I like this Ann Demeulemeester vest ? A whole fucking lot. It’s not available until September so that gives me time to think it over but I swear, I’d wear it open like how it’s shown here and just knowing that it will drape perfectly like a Rick Owens leather makes me like it even more. Below is variants of it on the f/w 08 runway (which is how it will look on me, minus the hat & purple top underneath). I’d kill for that middle coat which is obviously not the same fur but just as good.

I know Moz would be super bummed on me for wearing this but sorry! I can already see my leather jacket clad arms sticking out from the sides.

Updated to add!
I just sat down to read the July Elle I received in the mail today and what do you know, Mary Kate Olsen is running the Demeulemeester vest! Ahh! First my Chanel sunglasses (ok, that was her sister but whatever) and now this!

gonna lift your black depression, help you through the night

Read this in the NY Times today, always stoked to see Olivier in the press.

STYLE CREDO To me, the best time for men was in the ’70s. I would love to look like Polanski or Jack Nicholson back then, the way they wore their jeans with just a shirt, a good watch, glasses and a nice white jacket. It was simple, but really sexy. At the beginning of this decade all the men got very glamorous. They started buying a lot of clothes. Me, I don’t like it. When you notice clothing on a man, I find it suspicious.
ON INSPIRATION Nothing is more inspiring than love and true sexuality. People say my magazine is very provocative or transgressive. Not at all. If there is nudity and sex, it is not to provoke, it is to show the beauty and love. In the next issue, I have the artist Dash Snow wearing women’s clothes from the fall collections. To see a beautiful man like Dash, who for me is American aristocracy— this is inspiring.
CURRENT PROJECTS We have a new book called “Purple Anthology.” It’s the first 15 years, edited from more than 100 issues. I’m also doing a magazine for Chanel to accompany their Mobile Art project. I do one for each of the cities it travels to. In October, it will be in New York. It’s very exciting. I’m good at doing magazines.

Will be great to see Dash grace Purple’s pages once again! Can’t wait to see what looks he’ll be sporting.

The Purple Anthology is one of the best books ever and is way cheaper than bidding on old issues of the mag on ebay. Amazon even has it on sale for nearly half the regular price! Pick up your copy now!
