You all know how TOTALLY stoked I was to see my favorite coat photographed on Anna Della Russo during FW. So sick. Each of these photos captures it so perfectly and she couldn’t have worn it better. Maybe that thing will show up on Yoox or Gilt or something some day and it’ll be mine?
the old get old and the young get stronger
My friend Tom has a new record coming out and I couldn’t be anymore stoked for him if I tried. Our friend Chris of Steak Mtn has once again done the cover artwork and it looks so fucking sick. You may know Chris because I’ve rambled on about how amazing he is here in the past but also because he made my title “Sleep Deprivation” thing you see every time you come check out this here blog. Chris rules and if you’re not a fan yet, you should be so go check out more of his work NOW.
Anyway, a few weeks back I had the pleasure of meeting up with Tom again. It had been close to ten years since we last saw one another and Chris actually pus us back in touch with each other recently and we were both going to be in the same town again on the same night so we had to hang out. Needless to say we had a blast. I don’t really like playing catch up with too many people but Tom & I were really good friends back then so it only had one direction to go and that was fucking awesome. I’m way stoked to have him in my life again and really proud of how far he’s come since playing in my living room. Anyhow, if you’re into good tunes and feeling like maybe the world isn’t so doomed after all, check out the new Against Me! record and catch them out on tour right now.. you might even see me at some of the shows.

there’s a bluebird in my heart that wants to get out but i’m too tough for him
There are a lot of legendary guys who’ve landed their own Syndicate Vans and it made me smile real big to see that Kessler finally got his own. I spotted these on one of my favorite blogs Shipworm & Gribble for the surf shop MOLLUSK in Brooklyn. I don’t read a lot of blogs and I know these images just got released but it’s hard to believe it took this long for them to get to me. ANYWAY, it really makes me smile that Andy got his own Vans, it’s just so unfortunate that it’s after he passed away. They’re really sick looking, leather & suede and perforated. I’m hoping I can get both for sure. They’re so great and so are the small details that the Syndicate Vans always have. RIP(PER) ANDY.

Tell you guys about my favorite two new Sophomore s/s 2010 t-shirts. When I saw the Memory Motel shirt for the first time in December at Chrissie’s office I was ecstatic, to say the least. It’s my complete and total favorite Rolling Stones song and I was head over heels in love that with the shirt and really excited that she made it after visiting the motel in Montauk. The FTW shirt also just totally wins at everything. I’ve been wearing my cream colored Obesity & Speed Wolfen shirt for like a week straight, maybe preparing to wear light colors for the first time in my life ever just so I’ll be used to never taking off the Memory Motel tee.
to think about a place of mystery
I have been really into Scott Pommier’s photos for a long time, back when I saw his flyers run as ads in skate magazines (maybe not super super long ago but I have a pretty bad memory) and in any case, seeing his photos alwaysssss excited me cause they’re always so amazing.
When Scott recently got in touch, I was stoked. I’ve been seeing lots of rare photos from Scott on our mutual friend Max’s blog and he was more than happy to share some photos with me (like the ones I first remembered seeing) through e-mail.
When I heard he was starting to shoot fashion stuff, it was like two worlds colliding. Like I said on the Urban Outfitters blog about Scott, if there’s anything I like more than fashion, it’s motorcycles.
Put the two together and we’re good as gold. If I was in LA we could probably team up and treat you guys to some sick photos but maybe that will happen sooner than later.
Anyway, I love Scott’s photos and you should too. He’s even started a new blog where he’s updating with loads of photos never seen before. I’m ecstatic for what he has next (some of which I’ve previewed and I wish I could share with you guys) and totally psyched to see more fashion mags hire him. (READ: HIRE HIM!!!!) They’d be completely insane not to. Maybe even the kind of mags that want bikes with motors! Ha.
