I have to admit to never being much of a sweater wearer but all of a sudden I find two I really like. Of course the Ann cashmere killer was unbelievably in my price range, this Rodarte is not. That doesn’t stop it from being amazing though and trying it on recently only made me like it even more. My friend Lyz from Obesity & Speed actually perfected this ’spider web’ look for FW06 and in colors (and a price) I can say I’m much more into. They even did the leggings too and all I can picture is her and Josh sitting in their apt putting all of it together which makes it a million times better, again.

(Legs: Rodarte left, O&S right)
And just so happens that I see this shot from an editorial in I-D yesterday. Despite the trousers, although I like the textured look they have, this is probably how I’d be caught in the Rodarte, especially since she’s wearing a Plasmatics tee.

Anyway here’s Wendy O killing it.
I know the video warns don’t do any of this at home but if you’re looking for some elbow pads like hers you can probably make them yourself, just buy the longest nails possible.

I like how I ended up here from a $2,760 sweater.

I love Rodarte, but they are more of an inspiration for me - i just long to diy stuff after seeing their clothes and shoes.
Despite my insane laziness I already customized (just dyed a loosely knit sweater I found) something inspired by the spider web-style of knitting (this: http://lookbook.nu/look/16948-A-slap-in-the-face-of-public-taste).
Knitting in this way is pretty easy, when you mess up it just looks better. I’m thinking of trying out the Rodarte sweater at home. Haha, as if.
I love the O&S stuff you posted here, must definately check them out. Funny how they did it in ‘06!
The i-D “hoist a black flag”-editorial that this photo is from was pretty lovely, and I agree that the Plasmatics t-shirt was just perfect with that whole outfit.
Aaaand… last but not least, I don’t think it’s a very far jump from Rodarte to Wendy O. Williams’ elbow pads! Rodarte have the loveliest inspiration and a great taste in music. The nails + pads are more or less like the electrical wires used as straps in the “star wars”-shoes in the Rodarte s/s 09-collection.
That Obesity and Speed sweater is amazing. Too bad they’re not available anymore (I’m bummed they’re from way back when.)
Dude, I can totally knit something like that Rodarte for you. I was kinda thinking about it when I saw the first b&w cashmere one; I’m not kidding!
The Rodarte stuff is so beautiful but I can just see myself getting snagged on everything.
omg i LOVE the webbed sweater & leggings!
the leggings is the shit!
much rather support o&s than rodarte
I love that grey jumper, how expensive and where can it be bought? I was checking out their site the other day, i liked this dress with holes down the side, and when i looked in the shop they only had extra cool t shirts?
You should totally check out this blog, LADIVASOSA , she made these awesome Rodarte esque leggings. How god only knows. If i had the time, patience and probably talent thats what i would be doing.
I like Obesity and Speed. I really dig they’re sider web-y pieces.
The Rodarte sweater does look really cool over a rock tee (the O&S would too).
Rodarte! I love the legwarmers. And the sweater goes with pretty much any kinda tee or tank.
The rodarte is very interesting…did you see the October cover of Vogue with Rachel Weisz wearing a rodarte dress and tights?
I’m gonna have a peek at O&S’ stuff pronto…love that everyone is getting on board with Rodarte’s knits….
