Since the debut in January at Sundance of the new Patti Smith biopic Dream Of Life, I’ve been anxiously awaiting it’s arrival in theaters. It’s appearance on my Netflix Queue today leads me to believe it is this close to being shown world wide, which I am beyond excited about. If you don’t know much about the film, Steven Sebring followed Smith around for 11 years and this is the outcome. There is also an installation with the release and it features favorite items from the everyday lives of Sebring & Smith which you can view online for now. It would be great if this followed some major screening once Dream Of Life begins playing. For now you can also watch the extended trailer and add the dvd to your own queue .
On the heels of Dream Of Life actualizing, there is also another Patti Smith dvd I am eager to receive once it’s out in July and that is Patti Smith: Under Review. With loads of unseen live footage and interviews, this is a great pre-cursor and introduction to Smith’s life and work if you are unfamiliar and a very welcome dvd for those of us who have been fans for life. You can pre-order it now on Amazon.
